“I’m the only thing that stands between Roger Collins and a
prison sentence.”
Malloy, I have to hand it to him, is a dogged fellow who
sets his mind on something and gets to answers rather quickly. By the time he
reaches Sam Evans, the guy is in shambles. Roger and Burke and the past have
all wore him to the core. Malloy wants to know the truth about the death that
sent Burke to prison. This has caused ten years of anguish, agony, torment, and
guilt. So, Malloy is convinced Roger is the culprit and he will push and push
and push until Sam delivers his head on a silver plate. Malloy liquors Sam up
so he has no strength or willpower, nothing to hold the truth within. Roger is
a busy man in this episode. In Sam’s house, at the Collins Port Inn café, and
at home confronting Carolyn about leaving her ring for Burke to find it.
Carolyn is persistent in going to Bangor with Burke despite his definitive answer
of no. No matter what he does, Burke can’t shake her off. I wouldn’t because
she’s a fox, but Burke has his reasons for denying her interest in him. Poor
Joe, he’s a good guy, but his girl yearns for another man. When this
relationship is over, Joe can move on to Maggie and I will be glad. Anyway,
Malloy cracks Sam, Roger gets the ring from Burke but cannot coax “kitten” into
not going after his arch nemesis, and Carolyn will drive to Bangor following behind Burke’s car so she
can go with him regardless of his feelings on the matter.
