The Proposal

The walls are crashing down around Roger and the major development for all of this is none other than Bill Malloy. Not exactly the character I envisioned would be to Roger's detriment, but such a loyal man as Malloy who is maybe a bit too honestly blunt and confrontational for his own good. Knowing that Roger is desperate to stay out of jail (as he says in this episode, he is not about to be the sacrificial lamb just so Burke won't target his family's business affairs), Malloy's fate doesn't look promising. He has meetings with Burke at the Blue Whale, trying to negotiate with him so the other Collins' family members will be spared his ruthless agenda. Carolyn has fallen unfortunately right in the middle because of her interest in Burke, a fountain pen, worth a pretty penny, raising the ire of Roger who snaps at her for accepting it. Roger knows Carolyn is just a pawn of Burke's to play in the revenge saga, but a man upon reflection (he impulsively snaps at people only to slickly earn their favor when he returns to apologize, using methods to calm the tide that his crashing waves often disturb) he gives her back the pen. This episode, 45, shows Roger (once people like Malloy or Carolyn leaves the room after conversations about Burke) conveying the torture buried inside after talking with people, a controlling mechanism he has to contain the torment until they leave, his hand gripping whatever is available (darts for a dartboard in the shipping fleet office, the fountain pen, etc) with an anguish quite strong. Roger says he will see to it that Malloy is fired, but will that stop the avalanche headed in his direction? Will Burke even stop from acquiring all of the Collins' properties?

Early Exit

Burke interrupts what could have been a decent dinner between Maggie, her father, and Vicky, and he's sore, agenda-driven, and pointed in defending himself, while also demanding answers...answers Sam is willing to flee to protect. Sam's only link to Burke at all, besides Roger himself, is the letter he wrote to Maggie. He escapes out the back door while the others were in the living room and heads to Collins Port Inn where the letter is kept but the owner will not give it over to him. The letter is Maggie's and she will have to give permission before Sam can get his hands on it. Malloy's death looms large and will not go away--especially as long as Burke steamrolls throughout Collins Port, pissed off and unrestrained. He wants to know Sam's connection to the wrongful conviction and isn't about to just forget his presence at the meeting that night. Maggie just cannot believe that her father had anything at all to do with Malloy's death; Sam and Malloy were fr...

Keeping Quiet

Carolyn is all bent out of shape when she gets the phone call from Sheriff Patterson confirming the body found being Bill Malloy. Elizabeth wanted to tell her but Carolyn has a way of diverting a serious matter through evasion (in this case, not purposely). Carolyn gets all fatalistic and existential, how life is precious and could be taken away at any moment. A mourning period will now begin for Malloy, what he meant to those around him. At the Blue Whale, Sam is drinking heavily--no surprise--and Roger wants his assurance that the secret regarding Burke's manslaughter charge remain hidden. Both parties deny having anything to do with Malloy's demise but Sam is acting awfully strangely, especially when the topic of autopsy is brought up. Vickie plans to have dinner with Maggie and Sam, and is curious if Roger's reasons for her not meeting them might have something to do with her past. Vickie's past has been rather buried lately, with a few episodes finding a little roo...

A Dilemma

This isn't the name of Episode 62 but an actual problem I have. Currently two discs of Dark Shadows Collection 3 are not available on netflix to me so I will have to, seeing as I have not other way to avoid this, no alternative, skip certain episodes. I hate this as I want to stay in order and not have to miss huge gaps of story and character development. The only other choice I have is to buy the entire expensive set, and I just can't afford it. So, if you one or two people who have happened through my blog at some point, I want to apologize in advance.
